The Portland Timbers have acquired former Silverbacks left back Christ Klute.
Klute, who also played for the Colorado Rapids was traded from Columbus Crew to MLS Cup Winners, Portland Timbers, in exchange for general allocation money.
Klute had 14 appearances for Columbus Crew this season in addition to his 71 total MLS appearances and 8 assists.
Columbus Crew head coach Greg Berhalter commented, "This transaction will provide Chris an opportunity to gain valuable playing time while providing Crew SC with salary cap flexibility for the 2016 campaign."
Chris spent 3 years with the Silverbacks and the Silverbacks reserves from 2011 to 2013 making a total of 12 appearances for the Georgia club. He participated in Jurgen Klinsmann's 2014 "January Camp," but did not feature in any of the friendly matches following the training.
Like we do with all players that were once based in Georgia, we wish him all the best in Portland.
