Tormenta FC set to host an open tryout

Can't make the Atlanta United tryouts? No problem. South Georgia's recently announced Premier Development League team, Tormenta FC, are hosting open tryouts early next year. The tryouts will be held Saturday, January 9, at 1:00 PM at the soccer complex at the Clubhouse in Statesboro. Registration will cost $50.

The PDL is an amateur league and is the 4th tier of soccer in the United States, behind MLS, NASL, and the USL. Teal Bunbury, Brian Ching, Charlie Davies, DeAndre Yedlin, Graham Zusi, Geoff Cameron, Brad Guzan, Brad Evans, Darlington Nagbe, and Georgia's own Sam Cronin and Sean Johnson all spent time in the Premier Development League. Even USMNT head coach and World Cup winner Jurgen Klinsmann (not a typo) played a few games in the PDL.

The league, currently consisting of 65 teams, is divided up into 4 geographic conferences and compete in playoffs at the end of the season.
