The United States under-17 national team is currently in Turkey taking part in the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Aegean Cup. While no official roster has been released, it's believed that four local players are participating with the team currently: Andrew Carelton, Chris Goslin, Charlie Asensio, and Zyen Jones. (Edit: Actually just Carleton and Goslin are with the team)
All four have been invited to the U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Florida and are apparently on this trip to Turkey.
The U.S. played the second of their three games today against Greece and Andrew Carleton found the scoresheet in a wild and crazy match.
Here's the goal:
The U.S. went on to win the match by the score of 2-1. However the one goal that Greece did manage came in controversial and comical fashion. With an apparent break in play, the referee allowed the Greeks to kick off while the Americans were predominantly occupied on the sideline. The managed to make it all the way into the U.S.' final third untouched and scored a goal to pull the score to 2-1.
Thankfully the questionable goal wouldn't matter as the young Americans would go on to finish off the game. Here are full highlights of the match.
