Some time in 2017, Atlanta United and the Atlanta Falcons will have a state of the art mega stadium to call home. It was announced last week that the targeted opening date of March 2017 would be delayed by three months to June.
WSB-TV went behind the scenes of the on-going construction of the stadium that's expected to cost more than $1.4 Billion when it's all said an done.
As you can see, it's starting to look like a stadium finally instead of a bunch of random walls thrown together. There's still a long way to go. It's impossible to predict the future, so more delays are possible. For Atlanta United's sake hopefully the one delay will be all they need to complete the extravagant project. Three months without any home games is an extremely tough ask for any professional sports team.
The delay will be just one minor note in the history of this amazing stadium. Once it's finally completed, all the waiting and debating will have been worth it.
