What's going down in the Georgia soccer scene?

Youth All-American

Juan Torres of Georgia United was named to the 2015 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Youth All-America Team.

Disney Soccer Showcase

Two Georgia teams took home division titles at the Disney Soccer Showcase and four finished as runners-up. United FA 01 Premier won the U-15 Showcase Black division and North Atlanta SA 19 Elite won the U-15 Premier Red division. Gol SA 01 Premier (U-15 Showcase Red), Concorde Fire Elite (U-15 Championship Red), UFA-Norcross 98 Fury Premier (U-19 Showcase Gray), and AFC Lightning 98 Elite (U-19 Premier Gray) reached the championship matches in their respective divisions.

D2 and D3 State Championship

The first round of the Division 2 and Division 3 youth state championship are this weekend. The championships will be held January 24th. The D2 champions advance to the Region 3 Presidents Cup which will be held in June in College Station, Texas.

Kennesaw State names women's head coach

Benji Walton was named the head coach at Kennesaw State. He spent the previous three seasons as the assistant coach at Indiana University. Walton was the head coach at Birmingham-Southern and Limestone College. The Kennesaw State Owls finished the 2015 season with a 6-10-3 record, losing to Stetson, 3-2, in the first round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.
