NYCFC midfielder Kwadwo Poku to train with Manchester City

Poku receives a huge opportunity and will get to train with the Manchester City squad.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

On Wednesday, NYCFC announced that former Georgia Revolution and Atlanta Silverbacks midfielder Kwadwo Poku, along with two other NYCFC players, RJ Allen and Thomas McNamara, are to join Manchester City in training for the next ten days. Poku will get the chance to train alongside the likes of often compared to Yaya Toure as well as their prolific striker Sergio Aguero.

This will be the opportunity of the lifetime for Poku as he will have the chance to learn from some of the best in the world and the possibility of impressing some of the Manchester City coaching staff. This training stint with Manchester City in particular does not come as a surprise as MCFC and NYCFC share the same owner, City Football Group. Regardless, it is good to see the EPL giants offering their MLS counterparts such an experience.

Poku just completed his rookie season with NYCFC, where he made 27 appearances, scoring four goals and setting up seven.
