Building a roster from scratch, Atlanta United is looking for all sorts of players to fill out the inaugural squad. Tata Martino’s presence will be a big factor for some players considering the opportunity to join United and MLS.
With many of the domestic players likely to come through the acquisition methods up for grabs in the Expansion Priority Draft this Sunday, let’s turn our attention to some of the international players who have been linked to Atlanta United in recent rumors.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Andres Guardado
#GuardadoWatch feels like it is reaching As the World Turns levels of longevity. Recent news seems to indicate, as we have heard before, that a move is imminent. There is some conflicting information out there as to whether this move would take place in the winter or over in the summer of 2017. My sources have been leaning towards a winter arrival ahead of the opening of the season. With so much time between now and the opening of the transfer window, things could change a great deal.
Cuenta @HernanSCastillo en @ClossAM590 que Gerardo Martino quiere llevarse al Atlanta United a Pachi Carrizo y a Fernando Belluschi

Hernan Castillo of Pasion Monumental reported yesterday that Tata Martino wants to bring two Argentine players to Atlanta United. Here’s a little about each of the players mentioned:
Federico Carrizo
Carrizo is a 25-year-old left sided player currently at Boca Juniors. He began his career at Rosario Central before joining Boca. Carrizo has played all over the field in attacking roles, but has appeared the most on the left wing. He has very good pace, can use both feet well, and is equally comfortable creating for others as scoring goals.
According to Transfermarkt, he is under contract through the end of 2017. He has one start and one substitute appearance so far in the current season.
Fernando Belluschi
Belluschi is a veteran with nearly 400 professional games at clubs all over the world. The 33-year-old attacking midfielder is primarily playing centrally now, but has played on the right side in his career. He is known as a very creative, technical player and he has been part of champions in the Europa League, Portugal, and Greece. He started his career at Newell’s Old Boys and is likely to be well known by Martino and his staff.
Currently at San Lorenzo, Belluschi is reportedly under contract through June 2017, with an option for another year. He has played in four games with San Lorenzo this season in the league and Copa Sudamericana.
Aldo Gaibuz, a journalist covering San Lorenzo, reported that Belluschi is on Martino’s list presented Atlanta United’s front office for January. However, Cristian Camiño reports that Belluschi denied the rumors today and said he is very happy at San Lorenzo.

Carlos Tevez
There is chatter out there that Tevez has become disenchanted with life at Boca Juniors and is ready to leave the Argentine league. One possible landing spot could be in Atlanta with Martino. This is still very speculative at this point, but these are the types of possibilities that come with hiring a manager with the world stature of Tata Martino.
Now 32, Tevez could be a huge star in MLS with Atlanta. He would not come cheap though, and he is reportedly under contract through June 2018.

Santi Cazorla
This is quite a long shot, but it is not completely out of the question. Cazorla is now 31-years-old and in the final year of his contract with Arsenal. It is unclear if he will remain in London, but his services will be in high demand if he chooses to leave. Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, and Valencia are rumored to be interested if he becomes available.
Do you think any of these players end up in an Atlanta United uniform? Let us know what you think, and who else should be added to the shopping list, in the comments.
