Earlier this week, our Kacey McInerney had the chance to speak with USWNT defender Emily Sonnett about a lot of different topics. If you missed that interview, check it out here.
We must be pretty good luck, because just days after, Sonnett has bagged her first ever goal in NWSL and it just so happens to be in the playoffs.
GOAL! Emily Sonnett buries the equalizer off a Tobin Heath free kick. Thorns now level with WNY, 2-2. #PORvWNY #NWSL https://t.co/ccM2AqfU59

With her Portland Thorns down 2-1 to the Western NY Flash, The Georgia native stepped up big and finished a loose ball inside the 18-yard box to tie the semifinal match at two.
As far as we can tell, this is the first goal she’s scored at any professional level. She hadn’t even scored a goal at the youth international levels either.
What a moment for Emily and her team. Hopefully they can go on to win the match and advance to the final. I’m not saying interviews with DSS are lucky, I’m also not not saying it...
