Calvo can play both left back and center back and has nearly 200 games as a professional in Costa Rica, along with a short stint at FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark. His agent, Joaquim Batica, has been trying to find a new club for Calvo. A return to Europe is not ruled out, but the Los Angeles Galaxy and Atlanta United have shown an interest in the player.

Other Saprissa players could be headed to MLS according to La Nación. Daniel Colindres is linked to Minnesota, David Guzman is linked to Vancouver, Marvin Angulo has sparked interest from Portland and Chicago.
