Atlanta United are trying to right any wrongs that may have been created by the decision to open their inaugural season at Bobby Dodd Stadium in order to give the team a better chance at being competitive.
It was announced in early October that Atlanta United would play home matches in Georgia Tech’s football stadium through at least June and possibly July. Some fans were understandably upset at this development and some just had questions that weren’t being answered. Here’s what the club has decided to do:
Atlanta United is initiating a reward program for any current or future season ticket holder that will give them a $20 merchandise credit per season ticket they possess. In addition, each season ticket holder will receive two bonus tickets (per ticket they possess) to future Mercedes-Benz Stadium matches. Details on how exactly this will be distributed and decided will come after the MLS schedule is announced.
All season ticket holders will also receive individualized per-match credit for each match held at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The credit will be wide-ranging and dependent on what level of seating you have purchased.
The club also announced plans for seating arrangements at Bobby Dodd Stadium. They worked closely with Ticketmaster to ensure that promised arrangements at Mercedes-Benz Stadium would be closely reflected for the first matches at Bobby Dodd.
The supporters section will be located at the north end of the stadium, where the current Georgia Tech student section exists. Benches will be located on the west end of the stadium with the home side closest to the supporters section.
While this arrangement may not please everyone, they’re at least trying to make up for the matches that will be missed at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
