There are rumblings from the South American press today that Chinese Super League team Shanghai SIPG may be moving in on their deal for Racing Club midfielder Oscar Romero.
Reports earlier this week had Romero to Atlanta all but done. ESPNFC’s Jeff Carlisle even confirmed as much with an MLS source. However, today it appears there’s a big cloud of doubt moving in.
Argentine TV outlet TyC state that Shanghai have gazumped Atlanta for Romero’s services.

The Chinese Super League has been spending a ridiculous amount of money over the past two years acquiring many big-named players such as Hulk and Gervinho to name a few.
Is Atlanta United and MLS about to fall victim to the CSL’s high spending ways? The transfer rumor mill is a constant spinning cycle with twists and turns at every corner. We can only wait and see how this deal materializes, but it appears Romero’s move to Atlanta isn’t as secure as we thought. Stay tuned for more...
