Another signing.

Atlanta United have added another player to its roster ahead of their inaugural season in 2017. The signing of Free Agent forward Jacob Peterson was made official today bringing the total number of players on the club’s first team roster to 19.

Peterson, who turns 31 in January, is a utility forward with plenty of MLS experience and success. Deployed mainly as a left-sided winger, he’s known for his work rate and guile than he is his goal scoring prowess. He did contribute career-high six goals to Sporting Kansas City’s cause last season while appearing in 21 games.

“We set clear goals during this offseason to add league experience in key areas,” Atlanta United President Darren Eales said. “Jacob is another player who’s enjoyed a long and productive career in MLS and we’re pleased that he’s decided to sign with our club.”

It remains to be seen where exactly he fits into Tata Martino’s plans exactly, but it’s a good bet that he’ll be a depth player who helps fill on during international breaks or if injuries should occur. Every team needs those valuable role players and Peterson fits that description perfectly.

“His work rate and versatility stood out to us from the beginning,” Atlanta United technical director Carlos Bocanegra said. “Coupled with his extensive experience, Jacob also brings a great attitude to work every day and it will be a positive addition to the locker room.”

Here’s a look at the club’s full roster as of current date.
