Atlanta United have found their starting left back according to a report. Ives Galarcep of the Goal.com reports that USMNT defender Greg Garza will join the expansion club on loan from Club Tijuana.
United have acquired his MLS rights from the Columbus Crew after they passed on acquireing him and are finalizing a loan move for the 25-year-old Texas native according to Galarcep.
Garza would undoubtedly be the club’s starting left back as the only other player who plays the position is Mikey Ambrose who has very little MLS experience.
He has spent the last four seasons with Club Tijuana and has amassed a total of nine caps for the U.S. men’s national team.
If the deal is completed, Garza would be familiar with a few of his new teammates and potential future teams. Hector Villalba spent half of the last season with Xolos on loan, while Brandon Vazquez was acquired from them earlier in the offseason.
Garza would also reunite with USMNT goalkeeper Brad Guzan if that rumored deal is completed as well.
Let’s see if this gets finalized as it would be a very good move for both club and player.
