The Daily Dirt, December 3: Atlanta United getting busy

Rumor recap on a Saturday morning

Soccer: 2016 Copa America Centenario-Paraguay at USA Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Let’s get caught up after a wild day on the Atlanta United front:

  • U.S. youth international Brandon Vazquez signed with the club. Check out our live reaction to the move on the Peachtree Post from yesterday morning and our Digging Deeper profile on his career. He was on the fringes of the Xolos first team this past season and should be expected to contribute in Atlanta next year.
  • Paraguayan midfielder Miguel Almirón is linked to a big money transfer from Argentinian club Lanús. The 23-year-old was linked to Arsenal over the summer after his debut for Paraguay’s national team in the Copa America Centenario.
  • Almost lost in the shuffle was this rumor regarding defender Tim Ream returning to MLS and ending up in Atlanta via the top spot in the Allocation Order.

We’ll stay on top of all of these and let you know when more news is available. Also, we’ll take these into consideration next week when we start getting into predictions for the “MLS Week of Chaos” (have to trademark this) and how Atlanta might approach the Expansion Draft, Free Agency, Waiver Draft, and Re-Entry Draft.
