The Daily Dirt: Europa League action includes Artiz Aduriz's goalazo

The Europa League knockout tournament began Thursday with the first leg of the Round of 32. Highlights include Tottenham's 1-1 draw with Fiorentina, and FC Midtjylland's 2-1 upset of Manchester United was a joy. There was also this stunning goal from Athletic Bilbao's Artiz Aduriz against Olympiakos:

There has been some speculation Rooney would make the move to China, but so far nothing's come from those rumors.

Bordeaux boss Willy Sagnol: I could coach United States one day [ESPN FC]

This quote from Sagnol is worth a few chuckles: "I could also one day be manager of an exotic national team, like the United States or Japan. That could be very stimulating on a human level and professionally."

Timbers to open stadium bar named after double-post PK [SI]

The Sporting Kansas City penalty kick that hit both posts and would have derailed the Timbers' playoff run is the inspiration for a new bar at Providence Park, the Timbers announced Thursday. "Double Post" will open on the day of the club's season opener and "is specifically designed for and personalized by the Timbers Army."

Atlanta Hawks officially announce Kirk Hinrich trade [Peachtree Hoops]

The Hawks didn't do much at the NBA's trade deadline, but they did acquire Kirk Hinrich while departing with Shelvin Mack and Justin Holliday. The move frees up a roster spot, and with Tiago Splitter out for the year, it allows Atlanta to acquire some depth in the post.
