MLS clubs haven't had a lot of success in the CONCACAF Champions League, but Seattle Sounders put on a good show Tuesday night. Clint Dempsey scored two goals, and Seattle earned a 2-2 draw against Club America. Unfortunately for the Sounders, they gave up two leads in the game. Seattle heads to Mexico City needing a win to advance, so more of this from Dempsey would be appreciated.
D.C. United's CCL matchup didn't go as well on Tuesday. The game was goalless in the 70th minute, but Queretaro scored twice in the final 20 to take a commanding lead into the second leg at RFK Stadium.
UEFA Champions League Round of 16 action continued Tuesday, and Arsenal had the unenviable task of hosting Barcelona. The Gunners held their own in a scoreless first half, but Lionel Messi proved to be too much with a second-half brace. Now Arsenal needs at least a 2-0 result of its own at Camp Nou if it wants to advance.
In the other big game of the day, Juve rallied from a 2-0 second-half deficit to go into the second leg against Bayern all square. Juventus has the momentum, but Bayern has two important away goals.
