Former UCF standout, and 3rd overall pick in the 2015 MLS Superdraft, Romario Williams is set to join the Charleston Battery on loan from Montreal, pending approval by the ITC.
It is important to note that Atlanta United is in no way involved with the loan. The move comes in the wake of a recent Twitter rumor that claimed the Jamaican forward would be headed to Atlanta, who would in turn send him on loan to Charleston.
Williams, who will most likely join the club early next week, will be dropped into the midst of a fierce competition for a starting spot at forward. Returning players Heviel Cordoves and Ricky Garbanzo, along with newcomer Ataullah Guerra have all been vying to fill the void left by the departure of the Battery's top goal scorer in 2015, Dane Kelly. Kelly, who netted 14 goals for the Battery last season, opted to take his talents elsewhere in 2016, signing with Sporting KC affiliate Swope Park Rangers.
