Atlanta United president, Darren Eales, went on local radio station 92.9 The Game on Saturday to talk all things Atlanta soccer. He gave updates on a multitude of topics regarding the growth of Atlanta United as the city's MLS Expansion franchise gets closer and closer to its inaugural season in 2017.
In a rather lengthy interview, Eales continued to praise the club's supporters over initial season ticket deposits, which has reached 29,000, an Expansion club record. The season ticket conversion process is well underway, but the club has yet to give a solid number on physical tickets sold yet.
One point that Eales really tried to stress during the chat is that the club's goal is the have a competitive team from day one, not using the Expansion tag as an excuse. One way that they're planning to do that is by scouring their USL affiliate, the Charleston Battery, for hidden gems.
The timetable for hiring manager also remains firm in the Late Summer-Early Fall span, according to Eales.
It's a long interview, but it's worth a listen. (Starts at 4:30 of the clip)
