After handily defeating Philadelphia Union 2-0 at Toyota Stadium in Texas in the opening weekend of the MLS season, Georgia native Walker Zimmerman earned a spot in the Team of the Week alongside two other defenders, Ashley Cole and Drew Moor.

Zimmerman was ranked 51st amongst all players and the highest of all defenders in the Audi Player Index Ranking, which tracks all sorts of starts during the match and can measure game impact for all position players. Zimmerman went 7/9 on aerial duels, made six interceptions, and three clearances. The FC Dallas defender also successfully completed both of his tackles.
I was somewhat surprised Zimmerman got the start over Ryan Hollingshead, but it was great to see he played so well and can hopefully become a regular in the FC Dallas side.
