There's been some talk about supporter culture lately. Some people want Atlanta United fans to sing hip hop stuff, some people are not so crazy about hip hop stuff.
Naturally, there has been an outcry of people demanding I weigh in on the subject. I am, after all, the most important person related to Atlanta United and my opinion matters more than all of yours combined, from Arthur Blank on down.
Instead of deciding what sort of chants and songs the supporters groups should do, I just decided to pick them for you. So here they are.
1) Eddie Murphy - Party All the Time
On the field and in the stands, this is what we want. We want to party and what song says it better than this?
2) Billy Ray Cyrus - Achy Breaky Heart
I've seen a lot of people talking about how they want the supporters to sing country music and it doesn't get more country than Achy Breaky Heart! Yee haw!
3) James Canupp - Looking for a City
MLS was looking for a city and they found us. Atlanta, loud and proud just like James Canupp.
4) Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby
So I hear you kids love hip hop. You want hip hop? I got some hip hop for you, Atlanta. On and off the field Atlanta United is going to be cool as ice. Maybe Vanilla Ice performs at halftime of the first match? I'm not making any promises, but yes.
5) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Spoons
Oh, you want more rap? Okay. Here's the universally agreed upon best rap song of 2016. It might be a little tough to adapt this one to a supporters' section, but I'm an idea guy not a development and application guy.
6) Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell
We need to open the match strong. First kick happens and the fans dive into this: Meat Loaf's Bat out of Hell. And of course it's the album version. The whole first ten minutes of the match the fans are in unison singing the words of America's greatest balladeer. Nothing, and I mean nothing, will get the players going like Meat Loaf.
7) Kars4Kids - Kars4Kids
I like my supporters groups doing charity. So after every goal, the supporters will sing this little ditty. We have fun, the stadium gets louder, and a great charity gets some publicity.

As always, I'm happy to help. Next season when the Footie Gang, Terminal Legion, and the Residency are in the stands singing these songs loudly and proudly, remember it was me who provided the spark.
