Georgia United

The Georgia United U-16 and U-18 Academy teams hosted double headers against the South Carolina Battery Academy at Summerour Middle School.

The U-16s opened their weekend with a 3-1 win. Cheik Fofana, Zyen Jones, and Carlos Pineda scored for Georgia. They won their second match against the Battery, 2-0, with Victor Pereyra-Zavala and Carlos Pineda scoring.

The U-18s won their opening match, 3-1. Plamen Mangarov, Chris Mikus, and Patrick Okonkwo scored. United dropped their Sunday match against South Carolina, 2-1, with Diego Milessi scoring their lone goal.

All three Georgia United Academy teams are in action next weekend against local rivals Concorde Fire on Sunday at Georgia Soccer Park.

U-15 National Team

The U-15 Men's National Team is currently in Rosario, Argentina playing in the International Festival tournament. Alpharetta Ambush defender George Bello from Douglasville was called into the squad. Led by coach Dave van den Bergh, the U-15s will take on San Lorenzo, Newell's Old Boys, and Uruguay.

ODP All-Star Teams in Argentina

Two teams made up of Olympic Development Program All-Stars are currently on a friendly tour of Argentina. There are four Georgia players on the 2001 team -- Jackson Jolley, Natnael McDonald, Liam Butts, and Thomas Toney -- and one on the 2002 team -- John Franks.

The 2001s won their first match of the tour, beating Racing Club de Avellaneda, 2-0. Butts had a goal and an assist in the win. They dropped their second match to San Lorenzo, 2-0. They dropped their third match of the tour to Newell's Old Boys, 4-2. Butts scored one of the 2001s' goals in the loss.

The 2002s opened their trip with a 1-0 win over Avellaneda, and followed it up with losses to San Lorenzo (4-0) and Newell's Old Boys (4-1).

New youth national league

Soccer Wire reported that the Elite Clubs National League will be expanding and creating a boys division. It appears the U.S. Soccer Development Academy has some serious competition.

High School National Rankings

USA Today released their weekly national rankings for high school soccer and there are eight Georgia teams ranked in the top 25.
