Adam Adam, a refugee and now business student from Sudan currently living in Clarkston, is leading a group of teens from Atlanta-based nonprofit, Soccer in the Streets, to take part in the streetfootballworld Festival 16 in Lyon, France this Summer.
The Festival is a part of the Euro 2016 tournament and is "a global celebration of football's positive potential." Also, it will "bring together a global mix of disadvantaged young people who have earned their place on the pitch through their commitment to using football to change the world for good."
Soccer in the Streets is in the process of fundraising to send five teens to the festival and will be accompanied by Program Manager, Shell Ramirez. A major part of that fundraising is the ATL Nations Cup in July. The ATL Nations Cup will be hosted in Atlanta and will operate similar to the Atlanta Champions League tournament in which participants will commit to raise a minimum amount in donations. The event will be officially announced later this month. After the tournament, there will be a Beer. Cheese. Soccer. after party at Park Tavern.
