Atlanta Silverbacks

Silverbacks Park hosted two NPSL matches last weekend, with the home team taking a win and a draw.

Friday night saw the Silverbacks host FC Carolina Discoveries. Joao Mora scored twice for Atlanta, but it was only enough to secure a 2-2 draw.

The Carolina Railhawks NPSL squad visited on Sunday night. They took a 1-0 lead into the break at halftime, but Atlanta rallied for a 2-1 win. Mora scored again to tie the game and Avery Shepard scored the winner late in the second half. Here’s Shepard's winner from the stands:

On Friday, Atlanta defeated the Gulf Coast Texans 3-1 at Silverbacks Park. Tess Patton, Elizabeth Shaunessy, and Rachel Garcia were the goal scorers. Local product Leigh Jakes (former Chicago Red Stars) had an assist.

Last night, Atlanta traveled up I-75 to visit the Knoxville Force. A 3-0 lead in the 80th minute evaporated into a narrow 3-2 victory. Shaunessy scored her second goal of the week. Rachel Shah and Jocelyn Baker also scored to lead Atlanta to the win.
