ESPN Deportes: Andres Guardado close to joining Atlanta United

The ESPN Deportes reporter went on two shows saying Guardado will be making a move to AUFC.

Andres Guardado may indeed be Atlanta United's first Designated Player signing.

John Sutcliffe went on Futbol Picante yesterday, making a similar announcement to the one he made while touring Mercedes-Benz Stadium, mentioning that Guardado would be making the move to MLS, specifically with Atlanta United.

Sutcliffe then went on SportsCenter and reported the same news. Additionally, Sutcliffe mentioned that Guardado had issues regarding his work permit to specifically play in the Netherlands.

On the Futbol Picante report, it is clearly mentioned that MLS and MLS teams can easily pay five up to $6 million per year and that it would be difficult for him to find that money in Europe. That statement could be a clue as to how much Guardado may be looking for from Atlanta United.

Guardado is currently playing for the Mexican national team in the Copa America Centenario and is entering the second year of a three year contract with PSV Eindhoven. His contract is set to expire after 2017/18 season.
