The Daily Dirt, July 14: This Is What You Came For

Updates on Jones, Carleton, and Villalba

A new name dropped into the Atlanta United universe yesterday as Kenwyne Jones was reported to close to a deal with the club. Currently out of contract, Jones would be a strong target man to build an attack around. He is reported to be loaned to Central FC in his native Trinidad and Tobago, who added him to their provisional roster for CONCACAF Champions League.

However, don’t forget...

In other Atlanta United news, it was announced that Andrew Carleton had joined the Charleston Battery’s roster. He was in the 18 last night for their USL match, but did not see any action. He will be part of the Battery’s squad in Atlanta in Saturday to face the Nigerian Olympic Team at Silverbacks Park. Fellow Atlanta United players Jeffrey Otoo and Alex Tambakis will also be part of Charleston’s roster.

We are still on #VillalbaWatch here at DSS on Twitter and Facebook. Last word had prospective Atlanta signing Hector Villalba heading to Miami for his medical before signing his final contract. Stay tuned...

For your listening pleasure, the Mouths of the South dropped a new episode this morning. Also, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Doug Roberson will be a guest on the United States of Soccer on SiriusXM FC (Channel 85) this morning at 11:20.

Let us know what you what you are hoping to see from Atlanta United next in the comments.
