The CONCACAF Champions League group stage ramps back up tonight with Central FC hosting their second consecutive match against an MLS club. After losing to the Vancouver Whitecaps two weeks ago, Sporting Kansas City is the opponent in match day 2.
The Trinidadian club have made it known that Kenwyne Jones will be eligible for this match and is expected to start. The Atlanta United loanee missed out on the match with Vancouver waiting for paperwork of his transfer to officially be approved.
Jones’ number one reason for picking Central FC as a loan destination was to stay close to home and get as match fit as possible in preparation for Trinidad and Tobago’s crucial upcoming World Cup qualifiers against the United States and Guatemala next moth.
T&T are currently leading Group C of qualifying by three points over the U.S. and are in the driver’s seat to advance to the final six-team round known as “The Hex.”
Central FC will be desperate for a win after their opening loss and will be hoping that Jones is the spark they need to get it.
As always, we’ll be in the comments if you’re in the mood to chat.
