Just one match into his loan spell at Central FC, Kenwyne Jones has already earned a rather important accomplishment. The Atlanta United striker was named to the CONCACAF Champions League Team of the Week for the second week of the group stage.

Jones was mightily impressive in his debut appearance with his loan club. He scored a goal in the 2-2 draw with Sporting Kansas City and played a huge part in creating another.
He was a real handful for a true MLS opponent and proved that he’s more than capable of carrying over his long track record from Europe and translating it to this league.
Despite it being Jones’ first competitive match in months, he manhandled the SKC back line and was basically unstoppable. He should’ve had another goal added to his credit, but the referee whistled him for a foul on the goalkeeper. Replays showed he fairly beat the keeper to the ball and had no intentions of making contact.
Regardless, Jones showed why Atlanta United are counting on him to be a leader and a prime contributor starting in 2017 when they enter the league.
