Atlanta’s Rose Chandler was named to head coach Michelle French’s training camp roster for the NTC Invitational. The team will play Brazil, England, and the Korea Republic in September during the event.
The tournament is one of the last parts of the team’s preparation for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup which kicks off in Papua New Guinea in November.
Chandler is a sophomore at Penn State and played youth soccer locally for James Harris at Concorde Fire. She has also played in the WPSL for the Washington Spirit Academy. Penn State announced last week that Chandler and four of her teammates will be taking the year off from college play while they try to make the U20 squad and prepare for the World Cup.
She was named the Golden Glove award winner at the 2015 CONCACAF U20 World Cup Qualifying Tournament last December, ending the tournament with three straight shutouts. Chandler has been part of the U.S. youth national team program since U14.
