Who's ready for another soccer bar! Apparently, Hudson Grille in Brookhaven is amped to give followers of the beautiful game another venue to watch the world's sport.
Hudson FC International Sports Pub is in the works and looks to be ready by mid-October of this year. Although it's a little late for the start of the European leagues, don't expect the space formally known as Pub 71 to have any issues garnering interest and early morning soccer fans.
Brookhaven is a hot-bed for millennials, and with the increasing popularity in soccer within that demographic, it's easy to see how this is a great idea. You'd normally have to drive down to Little Five Points, Downtown Atlanta or well into Buckhead to watch a soccer match in that soccer pub environment we all love. Brookhaven is a great in-between for those living up GA-400 who don't want to wake up at the crack of dawn and drive to Meehan's, Brewhouse Cafe or RiRa's.
There's no doubt Atlanta United is a major motivation behind the renovation of Pub 71. In their statement about the change, Hudson Grille mentions the move is "in line with the growing interest in soccer and the addition of Atlanta’s own professional soccer team, Atlanta United FC." It won't just be soccer, though. The release also mentions rugby and cricket.
Pub 71 was an open and spacious bar that seemed perfect for those looking to stand around and drink in a relatively mild atmosphere. Depending on the renovations, it's easy to picture Atlanta United supporters packing the place and creating a specific soccer environment that rivals the atmospheres of the other soccer bars in Atlanta. Personally, I see long Saturdays spent watching soccer at Hudson FC, and then rolling to Hudson Grille for whatever UFC action is happening next door.
Let us know what you think? Good idea? Bad idea? More soccer bars?!
