The United States Women’s National Team now take on Colombia after two wins in their opening group stage matches. After beating New Zealand 2-0 and France 1-0, the U.S. have already guaranteed a spot in the knockout round and will stay atop of Group G with a draw or better.

Should the U.S. finish first in their group, they will take on the best third place team out of Group E or F on Friday, August 12. Looking at the group standings, it is still up in the air who the U.S. will play on Friday. China, Sweden, or South Africa could finish 3rd in Group E and Australia and Zimbabwe in Group G. We probably won’t know their opponent until all group stage matches have finished late Tuesday night.

Tonight’s meeting will be the second time the U.S. faces Colombia in the group stage of the Olympics. In 2012, they were in Group G together, and the U.S. won 3-0 thanks to goals from Megan Rapinoe, Abby Wambach, and Carli Lloyd.
