Atlanta United Loan Watch Preview: What could’ve been

Another weekend of loanee action

Charleston Battery

Chris McCann - Coventry City - League One

Coventry City vs. Gillingham - Saturday, September 24 at 10 a.m. EST

Chris McCann is recovering from a lower body injury. He failed a late fitness test last week but could make his return on Saturday.

Tito Villalba - Club Tijuana - Liga MX

Club Tijuana at Santos Laguna - Sunday, September 25 at 7 p.m. EST

Hector Villalba is still getting sparse minutes on his loan stint in Mexico. He didn’t play at midweek, so there’s a chance he could find some minutes in this one. It’s not the end of the world if he doesn’t. The whole purpose of the loan was to keep him fit. As long as he gets the occasional run-out and trains every week, it’s job accomplished.

Kenwyne Jones - Central FC - TT Pro League

Central FC vs Vancouver Whitecaps - Tuesday, September 28 at 10 p.m. EST - CONCACAF Champions League

The TT Pro League is still inactive and there’s no official start date as of yet. He’s still waiting it out until the CCL comes back in a week or so.

Junior Burgos - Tampa Bay Rowdies - NASL

Tampa Bay Rowdies at Ft. Lauderdale Strikers - Saturday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. EST

Burgos has had a very unfortunate season. The club bought Joe Cole and his minutes have rapidly deteriorated. Rumors emerged this week that Ft. Lauderdale explored the option of bringing him on loan, but were rebuffed. You can watch this match through ESPN3.

Alex Tambakis, Jeffery Otoo and Andrew Carleton - Charleston Battery - USL

Charleston Battery vs NYRB II - Saturday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m. EST

The Battery contingent take on the best team in USL this weekend when NYRB II travel down to Charleston for a potential playoff preview. Alex Tambakis has seen the majority of the minutes in goal lately, winning the job over Odisnel Cooper. We’ll see if that remains the case this weekend.

Expect to see Jeffrey Otoo on the bench as well. However, Andrew Carleton will not be with the team as he’s away on international duty. It’s expected that he’ll rejoin the team for the playoffs.

This match will be made available on Youtube.
