Schweinsteiger did not move during the most recent transfer window, surprising many who expected the out of favor player to end up with another club. However, Schweinsteiger declared that Manchester United would be his final European club, opening the door for a move to MLS, China, or the Middle East.

Schweinsteiger was named as part of Manchester United’s Premier League squad, but omitted from the Europa League player list.
He recently retired from the German national team, playing his farewell match on Wednesday against Finland. His international career ended with 121 appearances. He captained the squad through the Euro 2016 campaign.
Schweinsteiger recently turned 32 years old and made 18 appearances for Manchester United last season after an illustrious career at Bayern Munich. This year, he has primarily trained with the reserves after Jose Mourinho took over as manager.
Prior to the close of the recent transfer window, it was reported that Manchester United would consider allowing Schweinsteiger to leave for free. If so, he could be released and sign elsewhere at any time. Transfer windows in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are still open.
