Atlanta United’s academy off to a winning start

Atlanta United opened their U.S. Soccer Development Academy season yesterday as their U12’s hosted Southern Soccer Academy. At the U12 age group, the pool of players is divided into two teams on each match day and they play a 9v9 game with 30 minute halves. United won both games to get started on a high note.

If you missed our update last night, FutbolMLS.com reported that Atlanta United is among three MLS clubs that have contacted Bastian Schweinsteiger about coming to the league next year. We will have to wait and see if his situation changes in Manchester now that the transfer window is closed (unless a Qatar or UAE club makes a bid for him, their window is still open). Minnesota United and the Chicago Fire are the other two clubs that have shown an interest in Schweinsteiger.
