Other past few days we’ve seen much talk about Atlanta United looking to bring in defenders to bolster their backline. Another name has emerged as a possible candidate on Tuesday as reports from Argentina link the club to Estudiantes center back Leandro Gonzalez Pirez.
According to Joaquin Tabares of ClossAM590, Gonzalez Pirez has spoken to Tata Martino and the club are in advanced discussions to sign the 24-year-old defender.

Gonzalez Pirez is a former youth international for Argentina who has played at the the U-17, U-20, and U-22 levels for his country.
A product of the River Plate academy, he has spent his entire career in Argentina so far, transferring from Tigre to Estudiantes in January 2016 where he has played three matches.
If this signing does come off, you wouldn’t think it would be of the Designated Player variety as he doesn’t have much playing time in the last year. We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out from here.
