UPDATE: Creating an Atlanta United starting XI on FIFA 17, including Yamil Asad

Shifting around the midfield.

A couple weeks ago, I showed you guys how to create an Atlanta United Starting XI on FIFA 17 once there were enough available players on the game. With the addition of Yamil Asad to the club, it’s time to update the squad.

Here are the thirteen Atlanta United signees that are available on FIFA 17, as well as the clubs they can be found playing for in the game(as of January 10th):

Goalkeepers: Alec Kann - Sporting Kansas City

Defenders: Michael Parkhurst - Columbus Crew, Zach Loyd - FC Dallas, Mark Bloom - Toronto FC, Mikey Ambrose - Orlando City SC, Greg Garza - Club Tijuana

Midfielders: Chris McCann - Coventry City, Tito Villalba - Club Tijuana, Miguel Almiron - Lanus, Harrison Heath - Orlando City SC, Jeff Larentowicz - Los Angeles Galaxy, Jacob Peterson - Sporting Kansas City, Yamil Asad - Velez Sarsfield

Forwards: N/A

Just to refresh everyone’s memory, here is the previous Starting XI I had:

The addition of Asad gives us a little bit of depth in the midfield, something completely lacking before.

With the current crop of players available to us, here is the updated Starting XI I would go with:

I’m still going to stay with a 4-2-3-1 formation for now, but I did consider a 4-1-4-1 with Larentowicz as the sole holding midfielder and McCann(listed as a central midfielder on FIFA 17) playing alongside Almiron. However, McCann will likely play as a defensive mid when the season comes around, so I decided to place him there.

With McCann and Larentowicz as the two holding midfielders, Harrison Heath has been moved to the bench. Sorry, Harrison. Your FIFA 17 rating is a 57. That’s a no-no.

With the addition of Asad to the Starting XI, I decided to play him at his listed position, right midfielder. I moved Almiron to attacking mid, with Peterson taking Almiron’s old spot on the left. Although Peterson is listed as a right winger on the game, he’s left-footed. So, placing him there works out.

Mikey Ambrose and Harrison Heath are the two players available to come off the bench for Atlanta United.

Here are the eight Atlanta United signees that are currently unavailable in FIFA 17:

Goalkeepers: Alexander Tambakis

Defenders: None

Midfielders: Andrew Carleton, Chris Goslin, Kevin Kratz

Forwards: Jeffrey Otoo, Kenwyne Jones, Brandon Vazquez, Romario Williams

I’ll continue to update the Starting XI as more players sign with the greatest club in the world.

Hey Atlanta United, I’m still waiting on a natural forward that’s playable on FIFA 17. Hook a brother up, please.
