The 6'2" center back spent two years at the college level before signing with MLS and entering the draft. He was named the 2016 ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He's also spent time with the U.S. under-20 national team.
He joins defenders Michael Parkhurst, Zach Loyd, and Jeff Larentowicz as candidates to play center back for the club in their inaugural season.
Atlanta was given the No. 2 pick by way of the Expansion Priority draft that was held in October. The club elected to prioritize the Expansion Draft first leaving Minnesota United to pick first overall in the SuperDraft.
They also still have the No. 8 overall pick after acquiring it from Orlando City in exchange for Donny Toia who they picked in the Expansion Draft.
