Decisions to be made
Darren Eales, Carlos Bocanegra, and Tata Martino will have to make some decisions as the team nears opening day to narrow down the roster.
Atlanta has 9 available international roster slots after adding one in a trade with the Colorado Rapids for a draft pick. However, the team has 11 International Players currently on the roster putting it two over the number of slots it holds. To comply with MLS roster rules, Atlanta needs to add more international slots through trade, release an International Player on the roster, or loan or trade the extra players out.
Currently the team has 28 players on it. Brad Guzan will make 29 when he joins the team after the end of the Premier League season so room will have to be made for him when the time comes. MLS rosters are capped at 28 players.
Any future additions, such as a third and final Designated Player which the team is rumored to be pursuing, will mean that one of the players currently on the roster will need to be moved by loan, trade, or by being released.
