The US men’s national team take on Serbia today and while normally you’d watch the entire national team as a whole perform, there’s hope that an actual Atlanta United player selected to the USMNT will be playing. Greg Garza, on loan from Club Tijuana, could be the starting left back for the USMNT, or at the very least get solid minutes in the match.
Outside of a few Charleston Battery games, we haven’t had an opportunity to watch many of the current players that make up the Atlanta United roster, especially the new faces who have recently joined. Garza will be the first.
Garza has been plagued by injury throughout the last few years. The 25-year-old has played in three professional matches since 2015, all three of those coming in 2015 while on loan to Atlas from Tijuana. This match will be the first time we could potentially see Garza take the field and get meaningful minutes. We expect he’ll be fully rested and ready to take the field should his name be called.
