Atlanta United’s President is the best troll in MLS

Intentional or not, this is great.

Atlanta United President Darren Eales doesn’t reveal anything he doesn’t calculatedly want to reveal. This can be seen or heard in any interview he’s given since joining the team. He won’t hesitate to brush aside a question with a simple “no comment” if he doesn’t want to answer it. But, when he’s in the mood, he can pull off that shield and troll with the best of social media.

During the Atlanta Falcons’ lopsided NFC Championship victory over the Green Bay Packers, Eales tweeted out a hilarious photo of the away fans leaving early as the score continued to be run up.

On Monday, he was at it again. Atlanta United have been heavily linked to signing Venezuelan national team striker Josef Martinez from Torino as the club’s third designated player. The club have a strict policy not to comment on players under contract with other teams. However, that didn’t stop Eales from sending out a brilliant tweet about meeting with Braves outfielder Ender Inciarte, who happens to be Venezuelan too, and showing him around the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

“Showing top Venezuelan player around Mercedes-Benz Stadium today!” the initial caption read. Before revealing that it was Inciarte.

Troll on, Mr. Eales. Well played.
