Earlier in the week, reports surfaced that Atlanta United has been in contact with Atletico Miniero’s Juan Cazares to fill the third DP slot. Yesterday, it was announced that Cazares will not play with Atletico Miniero in the Florida Cup preseason tournament.

What could this mean? It could just mean the Brazilian club wants to rest the attacking midfielder before the season begins. However, it could also mean that his transfer to Atlanta United is in the works and Miniero is avoiding any potential injuries.
Upon the club’s return from preseason training in Finland a few days ago, Cazares told Brazilian media that “Tata Martino wants me in the United States and we are analyzing this situation”.
Cazares, 24, joined Atletico Miniero in December of 2015 and has scored six goals in seventeen appearances.
He received his first call-up to the Ecuador senior national team in 2014. Cazares has made seventeen appearances since then, including two caps at the Copa America Centenario.
