After a much needed rest for Atlanta United, the Five Stripes will look to get back to their winning ways against a New York Red Bulls club also looking to improve their playoff seeding in a match that could be a potential post-season preview for both sides. After an international break and a couple knocks and absences during the Minnesota United match, what could we expect from Tata Martino this Sunday? Here is the definite, surefire lineup for October 15th*
*I'm probably wrong.
Formation: 4-3-3.
Goalkeeper: Brad Guzan. We witnessed Alex Tambakis play for Atlanta United. I can't believe it.
Left Back: Mikey Ambrose. Greg Garza's still out. That's well known. However, what might come as a surprise is the absence of Chris McCann. You all know the saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words?” Well, after looking through the photo galleries of this week's training sessions (I've stooped to unfathomably low levels to get a darn prediction right), one will notice that McCann isn't featured in any of them. This really can't be a coincidence. This is my conspirist mind working its gears. If I'm not right, I will kindly welcome all jokes/pranks/sympathetic hugs that come my way.
Center Back #1: Leandro Gonzalez Pirez.
Center Back #2: Michael Parkhurst.
Right Back: Anton Walkes. We didn't see him against Minnesota, but it seemed to be precautionary. Plus, he was included in the photo galleries this week. I really do need help.
Central Midfielder #1: Carlos Carmona.
Central Midfielder #2: Jeff Larentowicz.
Attacking Midfielder: Julian Gressel.
Left Winger: Yamil Asad.
Right Winger: Tito Villalba. That's Mr. MVP candidate and local really fast guy Hector "Tito" Villalba to the rest of you.
Striker: Josef Martinez. My father.
To recap, here's my projected lineup against NYRB.
