Vegas has Atlanta United as Top 5 favorites to win MLS Cup

A look at the favorites to lift Lord Don’s Cup.

MLS: Seattle Sounders FC Training Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs kick off today. As with every major sporting event or competition, it’s fun to see what Las Vegas odds makers think about who is going to win. It should come as no surprise that Toronto FC are heavy favorites to win MLS Cup. Setting the league record for points in a season will do that.

North America’s most popular odds makers, Bovada, have their odds for winning MLS Cup and TFC are predictably on top at nearly 2/1. The next favorite is New York City FC all the way up to 6/1. Cascadian rivals Seattle Sounders (7.5/1) and Portland Timbers (8.1) are next in line with Atlanta United (9/1) rounding out the field.

As we’ve seen plenty of times in these playoffs, it rarely matters who the favorites are or who had the best regular season. It comes down to luck, circumstances, and current form. Here are the full odds according to Bovada:

Toronto FC +225

New York City FC +600

Seattle Sounders +750

Portland Timbers +800

Atlanta United +900

Chicago Fire +1000

Sporting Kansas City +1200

Vancouver Whitecaps +1200

Columbus Crew +1600

New York Red Bulls +1800

Houston Dynamo +2200

San Jose Earthquakes +3300
