Darren Eales spoke at length with the AJC’s Doug Roberson after Atlanta United’s first-round playoff exit and covered a lot of interesting topics. Check out that full informative Q&A here. One big piece of news revealed during the back and forth that will surely stir up some debate throughout the offseason is that the club will be getting new secondary kits next season.
Apparently the current “Strawberry and Concrete” away strip will be done away with and be replaced by something else. Eales didn’t give any hints as to what the color scheme or design of the new secondary kit would be, but did say that it would likely go on sale around the beginning of preseason.
The current secondary kit was a point of contention for many around the fan base. Some absolutely hated it, some tolerated it and some liked it. Personally, I thought it was just fine as long as the red shorts accompanied the greyish top. However, that argument seems to be for naught as we’ll be getting a new one.
This begs the question that I’ll open to you. What colors or design would you like to see the new secondary kit follow? It’s been talked about a ton over the past few years, but I’d love to see gold incorporated into the color palette more. Whether it’s a primarily gold kit or a white kit with gold accents. But that’s just my opinion. What say you?
