Atlanta United up for Save and Goal of the Year

It’s a fan vote. You know what to do...

MLS: Eastern Conference Knockout Round-Columbus Crew at Atlanta United FC Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Atlanta United fans were virtually perfect in online voting this season. I can’t recall an instance when a player was up for a fan vote-decided award and didn’t take home the prize. Well, the biggest test is upon us as the club has nominees in both Goal and Save of the Year. It’s time to put the Atlanta United Keyboard Coalition to the ultimate test.

There could have been many Atlanta candidates for Goal of the Year. MLS decided that Tito Villalba’s game-winning thunderbolt of a strike against Orlando City in Orlando is the best of the bunch and worthy of consideration for best in all of MLS for 2017.

Click here and vote as often as it allows you. He’s up against 14 other competitors for the award, so this one won’t be quite as easy as it’s been throughout the season.

Meanwhile, Brad Guzan has double the chance to win his category as he’s had two of his stops nominated for Save of the Year. His brilliant one-handed save on Jozy Altidore in the regular season finale is the first one up for the honor:

His other save to be nominated was the game before that one. His amazing point blank stop on Bradley Wright-Phillips seemed almost impossible.

Go here and vote. Not to sway your opinion one way or the other, but to give Guzan the best chance to win, we should probably pick one of the two and put all of our force behind that one. Personally, I think the stop on BWP is worthy of the award, but I’ll leave that decision up to you. Comment below which one you think the fans should support in the voting.
