One of the biggest question marks for Atlanta United entering this offseason is the status of Yamil Asad. The Argentine winger was brought in on loan from Velez Sarsfield in the winter and performed well above the levels anyone could’ve ever expected. He’ll return to his parent club as his loan expires at the end of the calendar year.
He wasn’t a superstar for the club but he played his supporting role to near perfection. As the team finished up their last training session and are set to go on break until the new season Yamil posted a message to fans on his social media accounts along with a clip of his historic first competitive goal in franchise history.
Gracias a todos los fans de @atlutd ,a mis compañeros y todas las personas del club. Gran año !

That farewell could be interpreted in many ways. Maybe he himself doesn’t know if he’ll be back with the club next year or not. We can only wait and see what the club has planned. Whether or not he comes back, it’s safe to say that Yamil left quite an impression on the club and the supporters. Not only will he go down as the first goalscorer in the team’s history but he’ll be remembered for an extremely hard working player who gave his all in every match he played.
What say you? Are hoping we see Yamil in Atlanta again in 2018?
