Jeffrey Otoo loaned to Charleston Battery

As expected.

Atlanta United have confirmed to Dirty South Soccer that Jeffrey Otoo has been sent to the Charleston Battery, the club’s USL affiliate, on loan to start the 2017 season.

Otoo, 19, signed with Atlanta mid-season in 2016 and joined the Battery soon after. While in the USL, the young forward didn’t get many opportunities handed to him, appearing in just five matches all as a substitute.

With the club having a total of 13 international players on the roster, Otoo was inevitably a player who would have to be moved to reduce the number to 12. Combined with the fact that he just doesn’t have much professional experience, this move makes 100 percent sense and has for a while.

Now he can go back to the USL with a fresh start to the season and have a chance to fight for minutes in a fair competition instead of joining late and working from behind. We hope he does well on his loan and we look forward to seeing him back in Atlanta very soon.
