Canada released their 22 player roster for the 2017 Algarve Cup and NC Courage net minder Sabrina D’Angelo has been called up. The tournament will be played between March 1-8 in the Algarve region of Portugal.
Les Rouges are in a group with Denmark, Russia, and hosts Portugal. The format of the tournament puts the top two group winners against each other in the final. Last year, Canada won the tournament defeating Brazil 2-1.
This is D’Angelo’s second trip to the tournament after being named to the roster last year. The Algarve Cup is also where the the keeper made her international debut appearing in the group stage against Belgium. Most recently, she represented Canada during its victory celebration match on February 4 against Mexico.
D’Angelo was recently announced as a Canadian Subsidized Player for the 2017 season. Subsidized players’ salaries are paid by their federation rather than the team.
