Atlanta United Fans: We’ve found your chant. You’re welcome.

ATL UTD Supporters Group Footie Mob (with a little help from the Mouths of the South’s Sam Franco) for the win!

I’ve made no secret of my admiration for Footie Mob, one of Atlanta United’s supporters groups. I admire their love of Atlanta’s hip hop culture and wanting to utilize it on ATL UTD game days. Earlier today, Footie Mob founder Curtis Jenkins (inspired by an idea by our own Rob Usry) utilized a song by one of my favorite rapper/actor/comedians Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) and changed the words of the chorus to fit Atlanta United. The first time I read it, I loved the premise, but realized that his initial incarnation didn’t really match up with the song:

No matter whether you win or if you lose

You’re not alone, we’re always with you

ATL’s standing with pride, we’ll be right by your side

til 3005, hold up...

Now here’s the song (It starts right where the chorus hits for reference):

Again, I loved where Curtis’s head was at, but the lyrics needed to be changed a tad to fit the chorus. This is where I stepped in and did a little tweaking:

No matter if you win or if you lose

You’re not alone, we’ll always be with you

A-Town’s standing with pride, we’ll be right by your side

til 3000 and 5, hold up...

I think this is absolutely PERFECT! It has everything: a sense of being “United”, a song by an Atlanta artist (who even has a show called ATLANTA!), and it would be easy to learn/sing along to. I give Curtis and Footie Mob 99.9% of the credit here for coming up with a unique idea and a great chant. I just came in and trimmed around the edges a bit... So what do you guys think?
