Atlanta United acquire Kyle Reynish from Red Bulls

The goalkeeper earned a spot in preseason.

It appears as if Atlanta United have settled on a back-up goalkeeper. The club announced on Wednesday that they’ve acquired Kyle Reynish from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for their 2018 Fourth Round SuperDraft pick.

“We were keen on acquiring another goalkeeper with MLS experience,” Atlanta United president Darren Eales said. “Kyle has earned a spot on our roster after trialing with us over the past month. As the veteran goalkeeper in camp, Kyle has been a positive addition and he’s proven he belongs at this level.”

Reynish, 33, spent the preseason on trial with Atlanta and appeared in two matches. He looks set to win the back-up job behind Alec Kann as the club’s only other goalkeeper on the roster, Alexander Tambakis, didn’t play in preseason.

The Valencia, CA native has been a journeyman of sorts in American soccer, spending time with three different MLS clubs and various USL and NASL teams as well.
