Atlanta United earn multiple MLS weekly honors following Minnesota rout

A big week for the club

Following Atlanta United’s party-crashing 6-1 demolition of Minnesota on Sunday, MLS has bestowed a hat full of weekly honors to the Five Stripes.

Josef Martinez is rewarded for his hat trick with team of the week honors, and is joined by Greg Garza and Miguel Almiron, the latter of whom had two goals and an assist as he’s quickly becoming an early stand out performer for Atlanta. Almiron’s second strike, a tasty volley into the top corner, is up for MLS Goal of the week, which you can vote for here.

To top it all off, Tata Martino has been named Coach of the week, which isn’t bad, considering he’d never coached in snow before.

All of this caps a great weekend for Atlanta United, their first win, lots of goals, and some awards to boot. Hopefully this is just the first of many such instances that the club’s players and coach receive honors.
